The geographical location of Portugal, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, was one of the main conditions that developed the fisheries sector and consequently, canning.
Given its location, Portugal is considered to have the best fish in the world, the fruit of the meeting point of tropical species with others from the North Atlantic, taking advantage of the excellent conditions arising from ocean currents and the ready availability of food.
Thus, the tinned products marketed by Genuinum are constituted by high quality fish, coupled with generations of know-how to catch the best fish and how to preserve it. All our preserves are produced in locations very close to the harbour where the boats unload their fish in order to minimize the time between catching and production of tinned fish. Additionally, the fish is worked with great care, by hand to keep all characteristics and flavours intact.
Among the products marketed by Genuinum, we would like to highlight the sustainable fishing of tuna caught by hand, off the Azores; tinned sardines, truly a fish known for its taste and for its potential health benefits, as it is a fish rich in omega 3, 6 and 9 in ideal proportions; sardine roe, called "Portuguese caviar", due to the delicacy of its flavour and to its rarity.
The tinned fish marketed by Genuinum is characterized by the following:
- The freshest Portuguese tinned fish, considered some of the best fish in the world
- Canning units always very close to the harbours in order to ensure the highest quality
- Traditional process, manual handling
- Some exclusive products, such as sardine roe, called "Portuguese caviar".
