Portugal is characterized as a country with excellent conditions for the production of fruit, the main ingredient in the production of jams. The climate is characterized by a mild and rainy winter allowing an excellent development of fruit with a mild spring and a hot summer creating the perfect conditions for ripening, giving it an exceptional flavour.
The reduced size of each fruit-producing farm allows its managers to provide a very close care of their fruit trees, increasing the homogeneity of the fruit and consequently its quality.
Having the conditions to obtain a quality fruit with premium flavour, one of the factors which adds to the quality of jams marketed by Genuinum, is related to the short transport distance between where the fruit is picked and the location of the production unit. This distance does not exceed a radius of 20 km (about 13 miles).
In the cooking process, the jam is prepared using only fresh fruit, based on recipes handed down through the generations and minimizing mechanical handling. No additive (such gelling agents, colorants and preservatives) is added to jams marketed by Genuinum.
Thus all these factors ensure that the jams sold by Genuinum are of a superior quality. Summing up, the jams and marmalade are characterized by the following main characteristics:
- Percentage of fruit exceeds 60%
- Totally natural product, with no added colours, preservatives or thickeners
- Artisanal, production process
- Produced with fresh fruit
- Unique flavours of fruit particular to Portugal (such as Pera Rocha pear, Bravo de Esmolfe apple, pineapple from the Azores)
Fruit desserts are an 100% natural product from fruit harvested at the perfect phase of its maturity preserved in a sugar syrup.
